Our Story
Fleet reporting software and the accuracy thereof has come a long way in recent years. Global Fleet Solutions began as many do when it comes to Fleet Management in South Africa: From an Excel spreadsheet. It was during this time when a South African Road Freight business owner was struggling to understand why they were not turning a profit. ..Even though they were always busy. The owner, Raymond Ronne used his family business experience and studies in banking and financial advisory to develop a model. This model of analysing a client’s business to clearly understand costs and its impact on the bottom line.
Problems with the data
One of the problems identified was that there were no good numbers to analyze. Sure, there was a lot of input. Fuel, services, salaries and more were captured, but not always standardized, validated and allocated to the correct places. All the data was isolated in different places, and many times the data held no real value or meaning.
Moving fleet reporting to the cloud
The Excel spreadsheet grew into a cloud based solution, which aimed to standardize how data is entered and shared between departments. Separate modules (i.e. Fuel, Service and repairs, etc.) were developed to all feed into the Management reporting. If management can have accurate cost per km numbers then it can easily be applied for future forecasting.
